Workforce Training Fund - Eligibity

What is the Workforce Training Fund Program?

The Workforce Training Fund Express is a program designed for small employers and labor unions to quickly and simply provide training for employees. The program utilizes existing training courses where a pricing structure already exists.



Guidelines for all Workforce Training Fund Programs

- All trainees must be employed in Massachusetts.

- Trainees cannot be government employees.

- A certified copy of a certificate in good standing from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue must be provided by a WTF grant awardee prior to the receipt of grant funds.


Express Program (Fewer then 50 Employees)

- Training grants are awarded to businesses with 50 or fewer employees and labor organizations.
- Training must be completed in 12 months or less.


- There are no deadlines, applications can be submitted at any time. Training may begin 6 weeks from date of application.
- Grant decisions are made within 5 Business Days.

Can a nonprofit organization apply for Express funds?

Yes, a nonprofit organization can apply for training funds provided it pays into the Workforce Training Fund.

Can a non-Massachusetts-based company apply for Express training funds?

Yes, a non-Massachusetts-based company can apply for training funds provided the employees to be trained are based in Massachusetts.


Will an organization's level of income, sales, earnings, or profits have any bearing on its ability to apply for Express funds?

No, the level of income, sales, earnings, or profits will not preclude an organization from applying for Express funds.
